Inviting you to the Gentle Writing Club

or, let’s use some peer pressure to keep me accountable & raise money for a good cause

hi, dear hearts.

I’m not going to sugar coat things. The world has felt heavy this month, and I have felt so helpless as the days go on, and I know I’m not alone in that. It’s been hard to keep moving forward, to keep the house clean, to keep the words flowing. Sometimes it feels trite to sit down to write fiction under these conditions. But then I remember that there is no better way to hold a mirror up to our world than through fiction; that books offer comfort and commentary and connection. And it’s connection that I want to talk about today.

I’m breaking my hiatus to extend an invitation to my fellow writers – especially if they are feeling as stuck and adrift as I have been. Through talking with a few friends, I realized I was not alone. So many of us are craving community, connection, and accountability these days. And I thought, perhaps, I could create a space to find those things, and maybe raise some money for organizations helping the situation in Minnesota right now while I do it.

Announcing the Gentle Writing Club

Write gently with me from February 1-March 1.

Participation in the Instagram challenge is open and available to everyone. To access the zooms and the discord, I am asking that you provide a receipt of donation of at least $5 to an organization to help support Minnesotans in need. You can find a list here: standwithminnesota.org

Instagram: I’ve designed a series of weekly, low-pressure instagram prompts to help us check in and get to know each other, that are open to everyone. I also wanted to provide ways to reflect and adjust, so each week, you can modify your goal as you need to. You can join the challenge using the hashtag #gwc2026. See details on my instagram page.

Zoom & Discord Access – Proof of Donation Required:

Zoom: Every Sunday, I’ll be available via zoom from 8:00-8:30EST to provide a 20 minute community writing sprint.

Discord: If you’re looking for daily chatter outside of our Sunday Shares on Instagram or the Zooms, join the GWC Discord!

To access the Zoom & Discord, please visit my website and fill out the form to submit a screenshot of your donation to one of the organizations listed on https://www.standwithminnesota.com

This doesn’t feel like a lot – it doesn’t feel like enough. And maybe it won’t be anything, but I’m going to be writing this February. Perhaps you’ll join me, and we can raise some money to help those who need it in the process.

xo,

Jenny
